This fundraising circular promoting the work of the New York Milk Committee shows on its front the images of two babies, one healthy and one frail and malnourished. The healthy baby, the circular states, is unafraid of the heat and congestion of a New York City summer. Why? Because this baby has been properly fed with clean, nutritious milk from a New York Milk Committee milk depot. On the opposite side a photo displaying unsanitary food storage accompanies the caption "Conditions that Kill Babies" and is juxtaposed with photographs of the Milk Committee at work and nurses dispensing "pure milk." The equivalency of cost between either feeding or burying an infant is also noted.
